The Undersigned Trust

The Undersigned Trust was established to support individuals and communities affected by unsolicited formal agreements, and to promote public understanding of compulsive drafting behaviours.

A modest red-brick civic building with a small, unreadable brass plaque beside the door, under an overcast British sky.

Our history

The Trust was founded in 2016, following a cluster of cases in the southeastern United States. While the founding incident has never been publicly identified, in keeping with our confidentiality commitments, it remains, in the words of our first annual report, “instructive.”

Our values

Discretion. We never name documents, drafters, or domains.

Patience. Most episodes resolve on their own. We wait alongside you.

Non-ratification. The Trust has never asked anyone to sign anything, and never will. This is both our policy and, we believe, our strongest argument.

Governance

The Trust is overseen by a board of trustees who have, between them, declined to sign over forty documents.

Annual report

The Trust’s most recent annual report is in preparation. Key findings from the previous period: activity remained stable; awareness grew modestly; no covenants were ratified under our supervision.
